Kitchen Aide Assistant - San Joaquin

Job Title

To prepare and cook each day's meals under the direction of the Center Director/Program Chef in a high-volume institutional kitchen environment in the VFW San Joaquin Hall Kitchen.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook each days menu for up to 3 meals per day
• Responsible for keeping work station clean and sanitized
• Adhere to uniform requirements and food service cleanliness
• Responsible for cleaning and maintaining all kitchen tools and equipment
• Respond to daily assignments for the Food Service Manager/Head Chef
• Shop for food items as directed and needed
• Assist in drought response efforts as needed
• Assist in translation as needed
• Data entry for Well Sky, USDA reporting and Donation Reporting
• All other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

• HACCP Food Handling Certification

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
• Ability to grasp, push and pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead

Equipment Used

• Modern Office Equipment and Relevant Software

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. (usually supplies boxes)
• Labor intensive jobs should have more here
