Looking for a seasonal opportunity with competitive pay and hands-on work? Join our Harvest Team and play a vital role in producing high-quality corn seed that helps feed communities across the world. In this fast-paced agricultural production environment, you will inspect and sort corn on a moving conveyor line, ensuring only the highest-quality seed continues through the drying process. This position runs from August through October and is perfect for individuals who enjoy active work, teamwork, and contributing to a meaningful mission.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and sort corn on a moving conveyor line, removing damaged product, debris, and waste material.
• Ensure only quality seed moves forward through the production process.
• Identify and remove moldy, immature, insect-damaged, wet, or off-type ears of corn.
• Return cobs requiring additional processing to the appropriate area.
• Maintain focus and quality while working at a moving conveyor belt for extended periods.
• Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE at all times.
• Assist with equipment safety practices, including lockout/tagout and emergency stop procedures.
• Support housekeeping activities, including sweeping and keeping work areas clean and organized.
• Help with kernel cleaning and product changeovers to maintain consistent quality standards.
• Report safety concerns, incidents, or near-misses promptly.
• Participate in safety investigations and continuous improvement initiatives when needed.
• Maintain clean and respectful shared spaces, including break rooms.
• Arrive on time and maintain dependable attendance throughout the harvest season.
• Follow site policies related to vehicle operation, mobile device usage, parking, and workplace conduct.
• Assist with additional production and general labor duties such as loading, unloading, packaging, and material handling.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Work Environment

This seasonal harvest role runs from August through October at a modern corn seed production facility. Team members work at conveyor stations while standing or seated in elevated positions and contribute to a fast-moving production process. The facility operates on structured schedules, including Sunday-Wednesday and Wednesday-Saturday shift rotations, with opportunities for overtime during peak harvest periods.

You may work in dusty conditions and occasionally outdoors during various weather conditions throughout harvest season. Safety is a top priority, and all required PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection , is provided. Employees should wear long pants, sleeved shirts, and closed-toe shoes. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Utica, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $16.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
