Spring 2027 Cyber Security Student Assistant (T060)

Job Description Summary: Salary: $18.43 - $27.65 per hour This position is part-time working up to 29 hours per week from January - May 2027. Job Description The Cybersecurity Student Assistant is designed to provide exposure to a variety of security tasks that one should expect a junior or entry-level security analyst to perform. These include SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) tool usage, virus/malware remediation, Procedural Documentation, audit support, incident response, and general tasks of the security operations center (SOC). In addition, CSA may be asked to complete a project to advance their understanding of cybersecurity. This project will be adjusted to the needs of TRWD and matched to the skill set of the student. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. Log analysis Malware/Virus removal and analysis Phishing mailbox monitoring and remediation Threat feed monitoring and updating SIEM tool incident monitoring SIEM tool dashboard/reporting creation and monitoring Documentation and reporting Maintain familiarity with strategic district levels of service Continuous improvement monitoring and innovation efforts Perform other duties as required Required Experience: Less than one (1) year of related experience General computer literacy Introductory knowledge of security concepts: AV, Firewall, etc. Good communication skills (Verbal and Written) Desired Experience: None Required Education/Certification/License: High School Diploma or GED Entry into a qualified undergraduate degree with cyber security course work. Qualified degrees are as follows: B.S. Cybersecurity B.S.E Computer Engineering B.S. Computer Science B.S. Information Systems B.S.
