Job Summary

As a Patient Care Technician, you will perform a variety of clinical and technical tasks including CPR, vital signs monitoring, telemetry support, phlebotomy, wound care, and assisting with patient mobility and personal care. You will be an essential member of the healthcare team, contributing to high-quality patient experiences and efficient care delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care within the scope of a Certified Nursing Assistant license, including bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility assistance.
• Perform technical procedures such as EKG acquisition, cardiac monitoring, bladder scanning, and finger stick glucose testing.
• Assist with patient transport, room preparation, and maintaining cleanliness and safety standards.
• Document patient care activities accurately and assist with administrative tasks like scheduling tests and transcribing physician orders.
• Respond promptly to patient needs and emergency codes, fostering a respectful and caring atmosphere.
• Support teamwork by maintaining positive relationships with colleagues and participating in ongoing training and development.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
• Completion of a state-approved Certified Nursing Assistant program.
• One to two years of patient care experience, preferably in an acute care setting.
• Telemetry experience is a plus.

Licenses and Certifications

• Certified Nursing Assistant (NA-C) license in the state of Washington.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Medical Assistant Phlebotomy certification preferred.

Skills and Abilities

• Strong knowledge of patient care practices and ability to maintain required competencies.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a professional and compassionate demeanor.
• Proficiency with technology including electronic medical records and telemetry equipment.
• Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and carry varying weights, stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks consistent with patient care duties.

Work Environment

This part-time position involves 12-hour shifts during evening and overnight hours, providing care in a critical access hospital setting with a focus on trauma and cardiac care.
