Apprentice - R&D Fabrication Technician

Shift: 1st shift, Monday - Friday; OT required throughout work week - no weekend shifts

Description:

Fabrication Weld Technician Responsibilities:

• Participate in automotive car body prototype development
• Assemble and measure weld fixture
• Prepare standard operation procedure
• Fabricate and modify car body and components from design data with various fabrication tools
• Examine and ensure completed work pieces meet design and test specs
• Participate in meetings, projects and activities in support of company and team goals
• Accurately and timely accomplishment of work assigned
• Maintain proficiency in core competencies and ability to learn new skills
• Maintain equipment and keep a clean and safe work area

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Experience with MIG and TIG welding required
• Experience utilizing basic power tool and hand tool required.
• Experience with fabrication equipment i.e. breaks, shears, and other metal forming tools preferred
• Ability to read blueprints, layout specs, and Bill of Materials (BOM) to determine material requirements and task sequences
• Ability to use calipers, tape measures, and other standard measuring equipment.
• Physical ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds
• CAD experience preferred but not required
• Basic computer skills i.e. Microsoft Office
• Basic math skills and ability to interpret the metric system
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Positive manner of performance, team player, proficient written and verbal communications skills
• Good attendance

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.00/hr.
