Podiatrist Position
The Donald J. Mitchell Department of Veterans Affairs Outpatient Clinic in Rome, NY is recruiting for a Podiatrist. Come join the team and see what VA Syracuse Healthcare System has to offer! VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. The Podiatrist provides quality patient care in collaboration with other health care professionals. The incumbent will perform specific duties within his/her approved scope of practice and must be able to give authoritative views and opinions on subjects in their field of medicine. Podiatrists treat such common conditions as bunions, corns and calluses, and ingrown toenails. Staff Medical Podiatrists perform office-based procedures and generally work a set 40-hour per week schedule.
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Provides comprehensive podiatric care consisting of assessment and evaluation, diagnosis, development of a treatment plan, referrals and consultations when deemed necessary, and coordination of aftercare services.
- Responsible for the coordination of a multidisciplinary team in the above activities.
- Perform history and physical examinations, evaluate all podiatric problems and to find the appropriate therapeutic approach.
- Routinely review imaging studies and a range of clinical laboratory tests.
- Assesses patients podiatric condition.
- Coordinates the development of a treatment plan.
- Plan and implement discharge planning for patients.
- Perform clinical functions appropriate to credential, training and experience.
- Care is performed in the outpatient clinic, inpatient unit, ER, (Community Living Center, CBOC, or when applicable) and on Medical Center consultations.
- Address the unique characteristic and issues with regard to the young adult (18-39), middle adult (40-64), older adult (65-80) and geriatric (80+) patient, taking into consideration cognitive deficits and emotional and behavioral reactions to stressful life events such as ill health, economic problems and the loss of significant others.
- Participates in the monitoring of PI indicators and conducts peer reviews when requested.
- Compliance with the VA policy.
- Responsible for the supervision evaluation of residence and podiatry students in the outpatient clinic, inpatient unit, ER, (OR and CLC when applicable) and on consultations.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:30 pm
