Media Relations Associate

Cooley Public Strategies is a public affairs firm based in Nashville with an office in Washington, D.C., and a nationwide client footprint. CPS provides C-level strategic public policy consulting, media relations, community engagement and research to some of the nation’s top companies and non-profit organizations. A Media Relations Associate candidate will: Cultivate and nurture relationships with reporters from key outlets in Nashville, across Tennessee and in targeted states nationwide. Draft high-quality written materials for client internal audiences, reporters, and the public. Plan and execute events, such as grand openings, press tours, roundtables and press conferences. Work in a hybrid environment, cultivating collaboration and communication with colleagues in the office and remotely. Serve as day-to-day account support for assigned clients. Juggle projects with competing priorities and deadlines. Possess a strong work ethic and commitment to continuous growth. Perform additional duties as needed for the benefit of the firm and its clients. Required Experience: Bachelor's degree with at least 2-3 years of experience in public affairs, political campaigns, journalism or a related field. Experience in media relations, including writing news releases and op-eds, pitching stories, and working with reporters. Strong communication skills, including writing, editing, and presenting both formally and informally. Additional Desired Qualities and Experiences: Strong attention to detail.
