Shipping Supervisor

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Shipping Supervisor to lead daily shipping and warehouse operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will oversee shipping personnel while actively participating in packaging, logistics, inventory movement, and shipment processing.

The ideal candidate will have strong shipping and logistics experience, supervisory skills, and a commitment to safety, accuracy, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide daily leadership, coaching, and support to shipping personnel while actively assisting with shipping operations.
• Coordinate shipping schedules and assign priorities to ensure on-time customer deliveries.
• Train and develop team members on shipping procedures, safety standards, and best practices.
• Prepare and process customer orders for shipment.
• Package, crate, label, and stage products for domestic and international shipments.
• Generate shipping documentation, including Bills of Lading (BOLs), commercial invoices, certifications, and other customer-required documents.
• Create and apply customer-specific labels and shipment markings.
• Coordinate parcel, LTL, truckload, and international freight shipments.
• Verify products, sales orders, and documentation for shipment accuracy.
• Communicate shipping delays or concerns proactively with internal departments.
• Support inventory control, warehouse organization, quality inspections, and related warehouse activities.
• Ensure products are properly packaged and protected to prevent shipping damage.
• Identify opportunities to improve warehouse efficiency, organization, and shipping processes.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Qualifications

• Strong leadership and team-building skills.
• Thorough knowledge of domestic and international shipping procedures.
• Experience working with parcel carriers, freight carriers, LTL shipments, and international logistics.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Working knowledge of export documentation and customs requirements.
• Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds safely.
• Strong computer and data entry skills.

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of shipping, warehouse, or logistics experience.
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
• Experience with domestic and international shipping regulations required.

Technical Skills

• Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Experience with shipping software and carrier portals.
• Experience creating Bills of Lading and managing freight documentation.
• Ability to learn new systems and software quickly.

Work Environment

• Manufacturing and warehouse setting.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, carrying, and operating warehouse equipment.
• Exposure to forklifts, machinery, noise, and changing environmental conditions.
• Personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
