Senior Accountant

Seeking a Senior Accountant to prepare and review federal and state tax returns for individuals and businesses.

Key Responsibilities

• Accounting & Advisory
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Perform bank and account reconciliations.
• Analyze financial information and prepare management reports.
• Assist clients with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP.
• Identify and implement process improvements.

• Tax
• Prepare and review federal and state tax returns for individuals and businesses.
• Work with tax returns involving partnerships, corporations, S-corporations, trusts and estates, nonprofits, and other entities.
• Conduct tax research and assist with tax planning.
• Communicate with clients to obtain information and resolve tax-related matters.
• Assist with tax projections and planning opportunities.

• Assurance
• Perform audits, reviews, compilations, and agreed-upon procedures.
• Prepare audit workpapers and supporting schedules.
• Assist with Yellow Book and Uniform Guidance engagements.
• Identify accounting and compliance issues.
• Assist with evaluating internal controls and financial reporting processes.

• Client Accounting
• Provide bookkeeping and write-up services.
• Process and review payroll.
• Assist with accounting maintenance and financial reporting.
• Support clients with compliance requirements.

• Leadership
• Train and mentor junior accounting staff.
• Review staff work when assigned.
• Assist with improving firm procedures and workflow.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of public accounting experience.
• Experience preparing individual and business tax returns.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP.
• Experience preparing financial statements.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• CPA license or active pursuit of CPA licensure.

Preferred Qualifications

• Active CPA license.
• Experience with audits, reviews, and compilations.
• Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting platforms.
• Experience with UltraTax or similar tax preparation software.
• Experience mentoring or training junior staff.

Compensation & Benefits

• $35-$41/hour based on experience and qualifications.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a Senior Accountant or Tax/Assurance professional with 5+ years of public accounting experience, strong tax preparation skills, financial statement experience, and exposure to audits, reviews, and compilations. The ability to work directly with clients and manage multiple engagements is important.
