Job Description Summary: Department – Health. Position – Public Health Nursing Supervisor (Open Until Filled). Job Type: Classified. Job Classification: 5236 – Public Health Nursing Supervisor. Salary Grade: 16. Pay Range: $79,185 – $95,056 annually (Hiring Range) with a total compensation range of $79,185 – $110,905 annually. First review of applications will be on 07/10/2026. Position Overview The Public Health Nursing Supervisor leads immunizations and family planning services within the clinics under the Public Health Nursing Manager. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing clinical operations, supervising nursing and support staff, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based services that promote disease prevention, reproductive health, and overall community well‐being. Essential Functions Assists the nurse manager and division administration in the development and implementation of nursing policies and procedures. Acts as a preceptor for new nurses. Assures compliance with regulatory vaccine inventory, ordering, storage, and reporting, and assists the Nurse Manager/Vaccine Officer with quality audits. Ensures all nurses implement best practices in compliance with outpatient treatment center licensing rules and Pima County Health Department (PCHD) policies and procedures. Participates in QA/QI activities to improve service delivery. Conducts performance appraisals and implements performance management strategies as needed. Maintains clear communication with the clinic nurse manager and Deputy Division Manager regarding incident reporting, disciplinary issues, and changes in workflow or practices. Communicates in a timely manner any relevant PCHD updates or changes to guidelines for services to all nursing staff. Coordinates and participates in nursing outreach events and/or mobile outreach. Performs phlebotomies, trains staff, and assists in the laboratory when needed. Assists with recruitment of clinic staff. Participates in emergency preparedness activities and acts as a nursing lead for Incident Command (IC) when needed. Minimum Qualifications Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and license to practice in the state of Arizona; four years of experience as a registered nurse, including proficiency performing phlebotomies. OR three years with Pima County in a Public Health Registered Nurse position. Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted if clearly documented in the "Education" and "Work Experience" sections of the application. Preferred Qualifications Minimum one (1) year of leadership or supervisory experience. Minimum one (1) year of experience working in a public or community health clinic setting. Bilingual in English and Spanish. Licenses and Certificates Valid Arizona driver license required at time of application and appointment. Successful applicant subject to a 39‑month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review. State of Arizona Registered Nursing license. BLS/CPR certification. Special Notice Items Pre‑employment background checks required. Post‑offer, pre‑employment background screening including verification of work history, education, and criminal conviction history. Proof of immunization(s) and/or TB screening required after offer. Physical/Sensory Work Requirements Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment in a clinic or office setting. Frequently observes details at close range; occasionally stationary at a desk. Frequently moves about inside an office and/or clinic; frequently participates in external events. Extends to climbing, crawling, kneeling, reaching, squatting, and stooping. Requires grasping motion; hearing in noisy areas and operating alarms; speaking in person and on the phone. Vision needed for operating a motor vehicle and distinguishing colors, depth perception, and peripheral vision. Frequently required to lift, push, or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Working Conditions The role operates within a clinic setting and a professional office setting, assisting with oversight and administration of direct patient care and conducting desk‑based tasks. Regular daily attendance is essential, but alternative work schedules may be available if deemed appropriate by division leadership and clinic/program scheduling needs.
