Portfolio Management AnalystThe Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association (WFAA), the private fundraising and alumni relations organization for UW-Madison, is seeking a Portfolio Management Analyst to join our Prospect Development & Decision Support team!In this role, you will work closely with WFAA development teams to turn prospect information and portfolio data into actionable insights that help shape effective fundraising strategies. The Portfolio Management Analyst provides analysis and consultation while applying prospect management best practices to support development officers in managing and optimizing their prospect portfolios. WFAA values people and the differences that they bring to the organization, and creates an environment in which all staff members and constituents feel respected and have opportunities to thrive.Essential FunctionsProspect Development Consultative ServicesConsult with development colleagues during regular portfolio review meetings to advise on portfolio composition, activity, and prospect identification needs.Partner with new Development Directors and Prospect Identification Analyst team to assist in establishing portfolios.Collaborate with Prospect Development Team members to identify, evaluate, and recommend assignments and qualifications for the University's top prospects.Coordinate with business intelligence and analytics teams to deploy systems to help enhance prospect management strategies and reporting for success in all stages of development.Prospect Management DutiesImplement prospect management strategies, business processes, and protocols, specifically, those activities focused on informing and motivating prospect activity.Serve as a subject matter expert on prospect management policies and system processes, providing training and guidance to development colleagues as needed.Develop, document, and maintain a schedule of regular data audit tasks to ensure that prospect management data is optimized for portfolio management and organizational reporting.Prospect Qualification DutiesResearch new prospects and use sound judgment to qualify prospects for major gift development. This includes verifying capacity, updating demographic information, assessing broad interests and philanthropic history, and providing rationale for unit assignment.Team Collaboration and Continuous ImprovementAttend and participate in regular research meetings, offsites, and quarterly development group meetings.Share best practices and provide training for research colleagues and development partners.Lead or participate in strategic planning efforts, priority team projects, organization-wide task forces, and other cross-functional groups.Recommend research information sources and tools for subscription renewal, purchase, or regular team use.Professional DevelopmentParticipate in at least one appropriate professional development conference, continuing education course, or workshop per year.Present information on prospect development functions during staff training and orientation sessions.When applicable, share prospect development expertise with development officers and researchers at other organizations.QualificationsRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional work experience.1+ year(s)’ experience in prospect research, prospect management, development, or the information field.Experience with MS Office products, particularly Word and Excel.Ability and interest to become fluent in SQL, Salesforce, and Power BI.Understanding of information management in a database structure, particularly the ability to store, manipulate, and retrieve data.Ability and expertise in discerning data quality discrepancies that require further investigation.Experience with SQL and/or relational databases to perform queries and create reports (working knowledge of Salesforce and/or Microsoft Access or similar preferred).Other Qualifications:Advanced degree.Understanding of basic financial principles.Demonstrated interest, or application, of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools.At WFAA, we are dedicated to creating an inspiring, creative, and respectful work environment for our employees.
