Speech Language Pathologist (PRN Positions Available) Pay Rate - $55.00/hour SUMMARY Provide practical established Speech Language Pathologist skills to residents following company policies and procedures. Maximize the communicative and swallowing competence of each resident. Provide comprehensive diagnostic, consultative, and treatment services for residents with hearing, language, speech, voice, cognitive, and swallowing disorders. Communicate effectively with residents, family, staff, and others. RESPONSIBILITIES Provide speech therapy screenings, evaluations, and treatments within scope of practice. Obtain informed consent from resident and/or power of attorney. Perform all assigned tasks according to policies and procedures. Render initial evaluations on newly referred residents and conduct ongoing treatment programs. Participate in the development, coordination, and implementation of resident care and discharge plans. Evaluate resident progress periodically and determine discharge from SLP services. Follow work assignments and schedules to complete tasks. Complete and submit treatment evaluations, clinical progress notes, and rehab discharge programs. Treat residents using up‑to‑date techniques and following physician orders and professional standards. Follow physical agent modalities procedures. Collaborate with inter‑departmental and other facility staff to ensure adequate therapy services. Create and maintain a warm, calm, and positive environment. Report complaints, grievances, work‑related injuries, and occupational exposures promptly. Notify facility of lateness or absence at least two hours prior to shift start. Adhere to the minimum weekly productivity standard of 85%. Complete additional delegated tasks as outlined on the evaluating therapist task list. Maintain confidentiality and security of resident and facility information (do not disclose user IDs, passwords, or protected health information). Follow safety and infection control protocols, including keeping call buttons accessible, notifying supervisors of missing residents or hazard conditions, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of equipment, and practicing hand hygiene. Use safety equipment and report defective or untrained equipment as required. WORKING ENVIRONMENT Work throughout the facility. Subject to frequent interruptions, hostile and emotionally upset residents, and family members. May work beyond normal hours, including weekends and holidays. Subject to emergency call‑backs, hazardous chemicals, infectious waste, and exposure to TB, HIV, Hep B, etc. Attend and participate in educational programs. Subject to potential injury from falls, equipment, odors, and air contaminants. RESIDENT RIGHTS AND ETHICS Maintain confidentiality of all resident care and protected health information. Treat all residents fairly with kindness, dignity, and respect. Ensure privacy in nursing care. Knock and await permission before entering residents’ rooms. Report grievances, complaints, abuse, and refusal of treatment to supervisor. SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS Maintain current licensure. Maintain CPR and First Aid certification. Attend required continuing education and CEU events. Participate in program development and in‑service training related to Speech Language Pathology. Be proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English. Demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate to age‑related needs of residents. Be a supportive team member and exhibit teamwork. Make independent decisions as circumstances warrant. Deal tactfully with staff, residents, families, visitors, government agencies, and the public. Work harmoniously with other staff. Show patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and willingness to handle difficult residents. Seek and incorporate new methods and principles into practice. Relate information regarding a resident’s condition effectively. Ensure no direct threat to the health and safety of others. EDUCATION Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology and certification of Clinical Competence. State licensure. PHYSICAL & SENSORY REQUIREMENTS Move intermittently throughout the workday. Speak and write English clearly. Cope with mental and emotional stress. See and hear (or use prosthetics) to meet job requirements. Function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and effective collaboration. Meet general health requirements per facility policies.
