Door Control Inventory Lead

Position Summary

The Door Control Inventory Lead is responsible for managing inventory levels for all Door Control parts, materials, and consumables required to support production, customer orders, and departmental stock. This position works closely with the Door Control Production Planning Lead, Door Control Production Lead, Inventory, and Purchasing teams to ensure material availability, maintain accurate inventory records in Sage, and support efficient warehouse organization and inventory control processes. Location located in Itasca, IL.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor inventory levels by running regular reorder and inventory reports to identify replenishment needs.
• Request inventory items and materials required to fulfill customer orders and maintain appropriate departmental stock levels.
• Order department consumables necessary to support daily operations.
• Coordinate with Production Planning and Production Leads to forecast material requirements for upcoming projects and large customer orders.
• Create, maintain, and execute a cycle count schedule to ensure inventory accuracy.
• Communicate with Purchasing and Inventory regarding low-stock or critical components, particularly when requesting the last available inventory item.
• Review open purchase orders before escalating shortages and follow up as needed to ensure timely replenishment of critical materials.
• Maintain accurate part descriptions, inventory records, bin locations, and department location information within the Sage ERP system.
• Collaborate with Inventory and Production teams to reorganize inventory locations and update system records accordingly.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient inventory storage area that supports inventory accuracy and operational efficiency.
• Identify opportunities to improve inventory processes, organization, and material flow.
• Support departmental goals by ensuring materials are available to meet production schedules and customer delivery requirements.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Forklift certification or the ability to obtain certification.
• Basic mathematical and inventory calculation skills.
• Previous experience in inventory control, materials management, warehouse operations, or a related field.
• Working knowledge of inventory management systems, ERP software, or Sage.
• Ability to generate inventory reports, analyze stock levels, and take appropriate corrective actions.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate inventory records and system data.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across Inventory, Purchasing, Production, and other departments.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Experience performing cycle counts and supporting inventory accuracy initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using Sage ERP or a similar inventory management system in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to anticipate material requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments.
• Strong problem-solving skills with sound judgment when addressing inventory shortages, replenishment issues, and location management.
• Experience working with part numbers, product descriptions, bin locations, and inventory records.
• Proactive follow-up and communication skills to ensure material availability and minimize production delays.
• Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to identify and implement process improvements that enhance inventory accuracy and operational efficiency.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform physical tasks throughout the workday.
• Ability to safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment.
• Ability to work in a warehouse and manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.

Experience

·         2-3 years of inventory experience

Work Environment

This position is primarily based in a warehouse and manufacturing environment and requires regular interaction with production, inventory, and purchasing personnel. The role demands a high level of organization, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to maintaining inventory accuracy and supporting production schedules.
