Statistician Intern

Overview This internship is ideal for graduates or current students seeking experience in statistics within a commercial healthcare environment. You will gain hands-on experience in analyzing clinical trial data, critiquing statistics, and synthesising evidence, with one-to-one training from our Statistics team. Responsibilities Gain hands-on experience in critically appraising and interpreting complex statistics, planning and analysing clinical trial data, and synthesising evidence with one-to-one training from the Statistics team. Work on multiple projects across therapeutic areas, contributing to publications, value materials, health economic models or health technology assessment submissions. Offer Compensation: $26 to $32 per hour, depending on experience Role Type: Full-time internship, 3 months Start Date: Summer 2026; please state your availability on your application form Location: Boston office Benefits: Generous vacation leave, flexible working hours, one work-from-home day per week, medical/dental/vision insurance, and funded social activities About the Role Costello Medical’s Statistics team provides statistical and analytical support across our services, devising statistical analysis plans and performing data analyses using R, Excel, Stan and BUGS. The team communicates methodologies and results to drug and device manufacturers, doctors and reimbursement agencies. Analyses cover patient-level clinical trial data, observational data and published aggregated data, using methods including basic analyses, regression, survival analysis and Bayesian network meta-analysis. The internship involves applying techniques learned in academia to real-world healthcare problems, working on projects across therapeutic areas, and communicating methodologies and results in publications, value materials, health economic models or health technology assessment submissions. Interns receive extensive one-to-one training on technical aspects, project management and client communication. Starting Your Career Strong performers may have the opportunity to extend the internship to 6 months and potentially transition to other areas of the company. There is also potential to apply for a permanent Statistician role in the future. Requirements Essential qualifications include: Undergraduate degree (minimum 2:1) in a scientific or mathematical discipline with focus on statistics and data analysis; a Master’s or PhD is advantageous High accuracy and attention to detail Strong mathematical ability Excellent written English Advanced Excel skills Programming knowledge in R (and familiarity with other similar languages); recruitment includes an R-based assessment Ability to work independently and within project teams About Costello Medical Costello Medical is a global healthcare agency specializing in medical communications, market access, and health economic and outcomes research.
