Lab AssistantFusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Lab Assistant for a 13-week travel assignment in Hyannis, Massachusetts. As a member of our team, you'll have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of patients while enjoying competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, and the support of a dedicated clinical team.Required Qualifications:One year of recent experience as a lab assistantCurrent BLS (AHA/ ARC) or CPR certificationValid license when needed in compliance with any state regulationsPreferred Qualifications:National certification through ASCP or equivalent such as AMT, AAB, HEW certificationsOther certifications or licenses may be required for this positionSummary:The Lab Assistant assists with processing specimens, preparing samples for testing, maintaining laboratory equipment, and performing administrative tasks. This role is essential in assisting physicians and laboratory professionals in the diagnosis of diseases by ensuring accurate sample handling and documentation.Essential Work Functions:Prepare and process specimens for laboratory testing following established protocolsAssist in conducting basic laboratory tests and categorize results as directedLabel, organize, and store samples to maintain accurate tracking and prevent contaminationPerform quality control checks to ensure sample integrity and reliabilityDocument and record laboratory activities, test results, and sample information in lab databasesMaintain and clean lab equipment, ensuring proper function and compliance with safety standardsAssist with inventory management, including ordering and restocking laboratory suppliesSupport administrative tasks, such as data entry, filing reports, and handling lab correspondenceFollow health, safety, and regulatory guidelines to maintain a sterile and secure laboratory environmentPerform other duties as assigned within the scope of practiceAdhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standardsRequired Essential Skills:Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skillsThe ability to read, write, and communicate in the English languageAbility to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skillsPhysical Abilities - Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bendInterpersonal Skills - Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalismTechnical/Motor Skills - Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipmentMental Requirements - Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally, as well as working without assistance from other personnel.
