Schedule: 2 days on / 2 days off, followed by 3 days on / 3 days off

Job Summary


The Chemist II will support food quality and food safety operations by ensuring products meet customer specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.


This role performs and oversees analytical testing, monitors quality parameters, analyzes process data, identifies trends, troubleshoots laboratory and processing issues, and supports corrective actions. The Chemist II will also contribute to process improvement, specialized testing, employee training, audits, and laboratory systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess quality parameters and food safety systems.
• Perform and oversee analytical testing.
• Conduct cross-checks and evaluate raw materials.
• Support equipment calibration and maintenance.
• Follow laboratory procedures and food safety requirements.
• Analyze processing data, identify trends, and recognize process variations.
• Troubleshoot laboratory and processing issues.
• Support corrective actions and process recovery.
• Identify opportunities for waste and cost reduction.
• Provide process improvement and specialized testing support.
• Train and support laboratory/chemist technicians.
• Maintain effective chemist-technician training and partnership systems.
• Perform and support internal and customer audits.
• Approve final production and ensure compliance with customer specifications.
• Support customer audits, initiatives, and follow-ups.
• Communicate processing data, final product information, and wastewater results.
• Independently resolve moderately complex laboratory and process issues with minimal supervision.
• Escalate complex technical issues to the appropriate personnel.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of related work experience.
• Ability to troubleshoot laboratory and process problems.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.
• Ability to work independently while knowing when to escalate complex issues.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience anticipating, identifying, and resolving laboratory and process problems.
• Experience managing multiple priorities and larger projects.
• Previous experience in food safety, quality, or regulatory compliance.
• Experience with analytical testing, audits, process improvement, and data analysis.

Work Schedule

• 12-hour overnight rotating shifts
• 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
• Rotation: 2 days on / 2 days off, followed by 3 days on / 3 days off
