Mechanic

Job Summary Position: 3rd Shift Mechanic at the Columbus, MS facility. Candidates must pass a pre‑employment physical exam and drug screen. Classification and base pay are based on experience and skill set. Responsibilities Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance according to diagrams, sketches, manuals and engineering specifications, and by troubleshooting malfunctions. Identify problem sources by observing equipment in operation, listening for anomalies, and using precision measuring and testing instruments. Remove defective parts by dismantling devices, using hoists, cranes, hand and power tools. Adjust dimensional requirements and functional parts of equipment by inspecting used parts and employing calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments. Control downtime through effective routine preventive maintenance techniques. Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies efficiently. Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Requirements Current, valid driver license. Ability to read and interpret measuring instruments. Preferred: previous industrial/mechanical maintenance experience. Physical Requirements Work is performed at ground level and above. Frequent: walking, standing, reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs. Occasional: climbing, kneeling, crouching, lifting and carrying 30–50 lbs. Tools Used Hand, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools, indicators, gages, micrometers.
