About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: IMC Stepdown Duration: 17 weeks Shift: 12-hour nights Hours per Shift: 1900 - 0700 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS Must-Have: ICU experience or Pediatric experience preferred Description: The RN will work in a stepdown unit providing care to a diverse patient population. The patient ratio is typically 1:5 during the day and 1:6 at night for medical/surgical and 1:4 for IMC. Common diagnoses include cardiac conditions, pulmonary issues, neurological events, and gastrointestinal emergencies. Care for pediatric patients includes stable respiratory cases and those requiring IV medications. Experience with titrating medications is necessary, including but not limited to heparin, insulin, and amiodarone. Nurses are required to read rhythm strips as telemonitoring is conducted remotely. Charge nurses take patient assignments while house supervisors manage overall unit operations. Certified Nursing Assistants assist with patient care, typically with a ratio of 1:8 to 10. Respiratory Therapists are available 24/7 for patient support. The RN will work 12-hour shifts and will be required to work every other weekend and holiday. There may be a need for floating to other departments as necessary. Navy scrubs are required for RNs. All nurses must clock in and out for their shifts.
