Position Summary:

The Construction Laborer supports Carver Companies’ civil construction operations by performing a variety of physical tasks on active job sites. This role assists with the construction of roads, utilities, site development, and other infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, outdoor work environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Perform general labor duties, including digging, grading, lifting, and material handling.
• Operate hand and power tools such as shovels, jackhammers, compactors, and saws.
• Assist equipment operators, carpenters, and other skilled trades as needed.
• Load and unload construction materials, equipment, and tools.
• Set up and maintain traffic control and job site safety barriers.
• Prepare and maintain job sites, including clearing debris and minimizing hazards.
• Follow direction from supervisors and collaborate effectively with team members.
• Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Perform additional duties as needed to support project completion.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• OSHA 10 certification.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work in varying weather conditions.
• Familiarity with basic construction tools and equipment.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Reliable transportation to and from job sites.

Preferred Experience:

• Previous experience in construction or a related field.
• OSHA 30 certification.
• Experience with GPS or laser-guided equipment.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry materials up to 75 pounds.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, and working on uneven terrain.
• Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Required use of PPE (hard hat, safety vest, steel‑toe boots) in operational areas.

Work Environment:

• Primarily outdoor construction sites with exposure to dust, noise, and heavy equipment.
• Fast-paced, team-oriented work environment.
• Work schedules may include early mornings, evenings, and weekends based on project needs.
• Travel between job sites may be required.
