Operating Room Lead Nurse (RN) La Jolla, CA
A healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Operating Room Lead Nurse (RN) to provide clinical leadership and support within a surgical services department. This opportunity is ideal for nursing professionals who enjoy coordinating patient care, mentoring team members, and serving as a clinical resource in a fast-paced surgical environment.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee patient care activities during assigned shifts
- Serve as a clinical resource and subject matter expert for surgical services staff
- Assign and support team members to ensure safe and efficient patient care delivery
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate surgical care
- Monitor patient progress and assist with complex clinical situations
- Promote compliance with established nursing standards, policies, and safety practices
- Support staff development through mentoring, coaching, and clinical guidance
- Assist with workflow management, case coordination, and patient throughput
- Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
- Provide direct patient care and clinical support as needed
- Foster a collaborative, professional, and patient-centered work environment
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility for licensure
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Previous operating room nursing experience required
- Specialty surgical experience preferred
- Leadership, charge nurse, or team lead experience preferred
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to coordinate multiple priorities in a fast-paced surgical environment
