Trauma Surgery Medical Director Opportunity

Baylor Scott and White Medical Center Pflugerville is seeking a Trauma Surgery Medical Director to join the Department of Surgery at our hospital in Pflugerville, TX. We are expanding our Trauma Surgery service and seeking a visionary physician leader to guide and advance the delivery of trauma care as we work toward achieving Level III Trauma Designation.

Position Information:

• Provide leadership in the clinical management of trauma services
• Evaluate all trauma and emergency general surgery consults
• Round on patients in the STICU and Trauma Acute Care Surgery services
• Provide OR coverage for trauma, emergency general surgery, and elective general surgery
• Participate in Q3 Trauma/Acute Care Surgery call (with protected time)
• Ensure adherence to evidence-based practices, ACS standards, and institutional protocols
• Collaborate in a 1:1 physicianAPP model for both clinical care and call support
• Regional outreach and commitment to trauma and emergency surgical services
• Involvement in both TQIP and NSQIP
• Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to trauma team members including acute care surgeons, advanced practice providers, and nursing staff

Qualifications:

• MD/DO degree
• Fellowship training in Trauma and Surgical Critical Care
• Board Certified/Eligible by the American Board of Surgery (or Osteopathic Board Certification)
• Licensed (or eligible) to practice medicine in Texas
• Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (when qualified)
• ATLS certification
• Demonstrated experience managing trauma, emergency general surgery, and critical care patients
• Experience with laparoscopic or robotic surgery required
