Organization: VIS Clinical Cool Springs Job Summary: The Mammographer performs diagnostic mammographic procedures in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures to ensure the best possible patient care services are delivered. Key Responsibilities: Perform all mammographic procedures and views according to established department protocols. Perform all tasks associated with the proper execution of mammographic examination in accordance with the established department and hospital policies and procedures. Perform appropriate volume of procedures according to patient load by shift. Review exposed radiographs for proper positioning, techniques, and labeling (patient identification, date, and markers). Complete all documentation forms as required by department (incident and risk management forms, in a timely manner). Ensure that the images are delivered to viewing areas, film file room, or PACS system in a timely fashion. Perform necessary cleaning of room, cassettes, and equipment and restock work area. Demonstrate correct and adequate anatomic positioning skills and maintain knowledge of radiographic equipment within assigned area. Participate in all quality control and quality assurance initiatives. Accept assignments from supervisor in a positive manner and perform duties beyond routine when required. Provide radiation protection to patient, staff, and self by wearing and maintaining dosimeter badge and demonstrating compliance to radiation safety practices. Demonstrate competency in performing all procedures for adult to geriatric patients. Explain procedures to patient, consider patient’s comfort during procedure, and understand emotional response after completion. Identify patient and family learning needs and provide relevant information appropriate for age and level of learning. Provide verbal education regarding procedure performed suitable for age and learning level. Perform all assigned RIS transactions to ensure accurate patient and procedure information is recorded for medical record and billing. Perform visual maintenance checks on all equipment used and report malfunctions to appropriate personnel. Conduct quality assurance procedures as directed. Provide clear concise information about mechanical problems and service needs. Record all equipment downtimes in department log and notify appropriate personnel according to procedures. Communicate with hospital staff and physicians to exchange pertinent patient information. Assist in scheduling exams in a courteous and efficient manner. Communicate identified patient related problems using the appropriate chain of command. Contribute to a positive work environment and demonstrate teamwork. Work effectively as a team. Display flexibility and volunteer to work odd shifts as workload demands. Communicate with clinical staff and surgeons as needed with core BX and US guidance. Position Qualifications: Certifications: Licensure – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Relevant Work Experience: 1 year. Education: Graduate of an approved discipline-specific program.
