Intellectual Property Associate - Technology

Job Overview A law firm seeks an Intellectual Property Associate to join its San Francisco, CA office. This role involves working on innovative patent prosecution and litigation matters alongside a team of seasoned attorneys. Duties Draft and prosecute patent applications before the USPTO. Develop and manage strategic IP portfolios for clients. Provide mentorship and training to junior associates. Conduct pre‑litigation diligence. Draft pleadings, conduct legal research, and prepare expert witnesses. Engage in post‑grant proceedings, such as inter partes reviews. Take and defend depositions. Requirements 2-4 years of post-JD experience in patent prosecution and IP litigation. Admission to practice before the USPTO. Licensed to practice law and in good standing in the state/jurisdiction where the position is based. Education Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering required. Graduate degree or industry experience in these disciplines preferred. Certifications Admission to practice before the USPTO. Skills Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
