Staff Scientist - Mass Spectrometry Reagents / Proteomics

Staff Scientist position in mass spectrometry reagents and proteomics R&D at Thermo Fisher Scientific. The role involves leading development of MS-based proteomics reagents, assays, and workflows while collaborating across R&D, manufacturing, and commercial teams to advance product innovation.

Responsibilities

• Lead R&D projects developing reagents, assays, kits, and workflows for mass spectrometry-based proteomics
• Design, develop, and optimize MS sample preparation and LC-MS workflows and quantitative proteomics methods
• Plan and execute experiments independently, analyze data, troubleshoot technical challenges, and provide recommendations
• Evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities for new products and technology advancement
• Collaborate with manufacturing, technical service, and commercial teams on product development and technology transfer

Requirements

• Ph.D. with 2+ years relevant experience, or M.S. with 6+ years, or B.S. with 8+ years in biochemistry, analytical chemistry, proteomics, mass spectrometry
• Strong expertise in protein biochemistry, MS sample preparation, quantitative proteomics, and LC-MS method development
• Demonstrated ability to independently design and execute experiments and solve complex technical problems
• Experience leading scientific projects and working effectively with cross-functional teams
• Strong analytical, organizational, technical writing, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently, influence stakeholders, and collaborate in matrix organization
• Willingness to travel for conferences and customer meetings

Compensation: $103,100–$171,900 base
