Registered Nurse - Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) - Utica, NY

Job Summary

Join our dedicated team as a Registered Nurse in the Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) at MVHS-Wynn, located in Utica, New York. This 64-bed unit, including 15 designated Neuro beds, provides specialized care for adult patients (18 years and older) requiring close monitoring and intervention.

The IMCU manages a diverse patient population with complex conditions, including neurological disorders, cardiac issues, trauma, respiratory compromise (e.g., COPD, chronic vents), diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), sepsis, myocardial infarction (MI), cardiovascular stepdown, and post-operative recovery. As an integral part of our team, you will deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a dynamic environment where floating to other units may be required.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive direct patient care to adult patients (18+) within the Intermediate Care Unit.
• Monitor, assess, and manage patients with a wide range of diagnoses including neurological conditions, cardiac issues, trauma, respiratory illnesses (e.g., COPD, chronic vents), DKA, sepsis, MI, and post-operative states.
• Operate and manage specialized medical equipment such as temporary pacemakers, chest tubes, arterial lines, BiPAP, and Neptune Vapo systems.
• Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members, including Respiratory Therapists, for the care of patients on chronic ventilation.
• Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including the requirement to float to other units as needed based on patient census and acuity.

Required Qualifications

• Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum of two (2) years of recent experience in an Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) or Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting.
• Proficiency with EPIC Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
