Technician Diesel

Position Description Ryder is hiring an experienced Mid‑Level Diesel Technician in Kalamazoo, MI. This role offers weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a career you can feel good about. Conduct standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections. Perform preventive maintenance. Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, using diagnostic computers when applicable. Identify root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required. Replace defective components as instructed. Perform facility maintenance duties. Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task. Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation. Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (e.g., safety, DOT, MOT). Perform other support duties as required to support operations, including Service Island support. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Vocational or technical certification or post‑secondary degree preferred. Basic tool proficiency required. Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance such as oil changes, brake and tire work. Two (2) years or more of classroom training and work experience in required experience, preferred. Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred. Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire. Pass a Ryder drug test. Pass a DOT physical. Pass a Ryder road test. Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years.
