Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year, preferred 2 years License: Yes Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Recent charge experience over the past year Description: Candidates may not have been directly employed by any associated facility within the past year. First to float as needed between campuses. Call outs are strongly discouraged and could lead to termination. May be asked to precept as needed by the unit. Candidates must hold recent charge experience. Unit has 37 beds. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:5. Common diagnoses include primary surgical, orthopedic, and trauma cases. Experience with elective surgeries, total joints, and bariatric surgery is preferred. RNs are not required to titrate drips or read telemetry strips. There are no monitored beds on medical surgical floors. Charge Nurse may take an assignment if needed but will not take more than 2 patients. There are nursing aides available on the unit. RNs will assist with basic skillset tasks if floated outside of the unit. Uniforms must consist of navy scrubs, and undershirts, while scrub jackets are optional. The unit will provide specific orientation, including policy training and skills development. Shifts are scheduled every 6 weeks, allowing for self-scheduling. Weekend and holiday requirements will rotate with core staff. No on-call or standby requirement is present. The charting system used is MEDITECH. This position is in an acute care setting with a trauma level of 3.
