Early Childhood Special Education Coordinator

Job Description Early Childhood Special Education Coordinator (part-time, 15 hours per week) Qualifications State of Maine Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) authorization. State of Maine Certification (035 - Assistant Administrator of Special Education) Master's degree or higher in the field of education. Experience as a building-level administrator or central office instructional administrator preferred. Excellent organizational skills, as well as the ability to skillfully manage time. Skilled in the use of technology. Professional manner and collaboration. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, students, district staff, parents, and community members. Reports To Superintendent of Schools & Director of Instructional Support Position Responsibilities Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Instructional Support, the Early Childhood Special Education Coordinator will have primary responsibility for the overall administration, supervision, and coordination of early childhood special education programs (ages 3-5) within the district. This role involves coordinating a mixed delivery system that ensures compliance with state and federal regulations, providing leadership and support to staff, and fostering positive relationships with families and community partners. Specific Responsibilities Include Partnering with the Director of Instructional Support and the Maine Department of Education to oversee the Part B transition of early childhood services. Facilitating and acting as the administrator at all Pre-K Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings for 3, 4, and 5-year-old learners. Case-managing all IEP-related paperwork for Pre-K 3, 4, and 5-year-olds (AWNs, WNs, IEPs, and referral-related documents). Conducting and overseeing comprehensive assessments to assist in determining eligibility for early childhood special education. Acting as a liaison between the Yarmouth School Department, the William H. Rowe School, and outside early childhood providers in the community. Working with the district's clinical and business teams to implement MaineCare reimbursement procedures. Coordinating early childhood special education referral, assessment, and programming in accordance with the district's special education policy and procedure manual, and at the direction of the Director of Instructional Support. Assisting the Director of Instructional Support with the supervision and evaluation of probationary and continuing contract early childhood special education personnel. Monitoring special education documentation, record-keeping, and communications to assure compliance with state regulations and district policies. Preparing and delivering reports, plans, and program descriptions as requested by school and district administrators. Initiating, preparing, and facilitating various forms of staff professional development activities to address personnel readiness, skill development, and the integration of our core values of being Safe, Kind, Helpful, and Polite. Assuring equity and empathy are central to the development of all early childhood programming. Managing all other duties as assigned by the Director of Instructional Support.
