Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor and Delivery

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse with experience in Labor and Delivery (L&D) to join our dynamic team. This position involves providing comprehensive care to patients during labor and delivery as well as postpartum care in a low-risk LDRP unit.

Essential Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in the Labor and Delivery unit, including assistance with sterile procedures, triage, and fetal monitoring.
• Manage labor patients and couplet care, ensuring optimal care and support for mothers and newborns.
• Administer medications and IV therapy, monitor patients' response, and document care accurately.
• Assist with high-risk deliveries and circulate during C-Sections, along with recovery of patients in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
• Perform newborn care procedures including APGAR scoring, circumcision assistance, and newborn assessments.
• Educate parents on infant care, breastfeeding support, and postpartum care, including pain management and wound care.
• Participate in unit orientation and training sessions as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery.
• Experience in both Labor and Delivery as well as Couplet Care is required.
• Certifications: AWHONN Beginner/Intermediate, BCLS, FHM, NRP.
• Preferred certifications include ACLS and AWHONN Advanced.
• Must possess skills in IV starts, telemetry, and the management of antepartum care.

Work Setting

• Unit accepts 1st time travelers, with a supportive environment for new nurses in this specialty.
• Target patient ratios: L&D 1:1-2, Couplet care 1:3; flexibility based on unit needs.
• Unit features 15 rooms and 17 beds, including observation and triage areas.
• Regular weekend shifts required as part of the contract.

Special Procedures and Equipment

The unit is equipped with all necessary equipment to provide safe and effective care, including Pyxis and EPIC systems for medication management and patient records.

Orientation and Scheduling

• Comprehensive 24-hour orientation, including hospital orientation and unit-specific training.
• Accommodation for pre-approved time off may be available based on scheduling needs.

Uniforms

Scrubs will be provided in a blue color.
