Quality Control Technician II
Compensation: $26–$28/hr | Overtime expected weekly Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM or 8:00 AM–5:00 PM | Direct Hire
Position Overview
A specialty manufacturer with a diverse portfolio of polymer-based bonding and sealing compounds is seeking a hands-on Quality Control Technician II to support laboratory inspection and testing operations. Reporting to the Quality Engineering Manager, this individual will play an active role in ensuring products meet internal quality standards, engineering specifications (including ASTM and ISO), and customer requirements. Daily work includes hands-on preparation of bonded test assemblies and destructive mechanical testing in a chemical laboratory environment.
Key Responsibilities
Perform in-process and finished goods inspection across a broad product line, ensuring compliance with internal standards and customer specifications.
Conduct incoming raw material inspections to verify suitability for use in manufacturing.
Prepare adhesively bonded test assemblies per customer drawings and specifications.
Conduct mechanical strength testing (compression, shear, peel) using universal test frames.
Evaluate application characteristics using viscometers, rheometers, extruders, and slump jigs.
Perform physical property testing including density, durometer hardness, fineness of grind, and flammability testing.
Machine test specimens using bandsaws, grinding wheels, mills, and related equipment.
Analyze and interpret test data, identify trends, and escalate findings as appropriate.
Maintain thorough and accurate records of all test activity including product, batch, and sample information.
Support shelf-life extension testing and R&D laboratory activities.
Work safely with chemical formulations and follow all PPE and lab safety protocols.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum 2 years of experience in a quality control or chemical manufacturing environment.
Comfortable working in a hands-on laboratory setting with daily chemical and equipment exposure.
Proficiency with basic lab instruments (digital balances, compressed gas cylinders, etc.).
Strong attention to detail and record-keeping discipline.
Solid written and verbal communication skills.
Basic math skills and proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Ability to adapt to shifting daily priorities and workload demands.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline.
Technical or vocational school training in a relevant field.
Familiarity with ASTM and/or ISO testing standards.
