Cytologist

Overview Join to apply for the Cytologist role at The University of Vermont Medical Center. Responsibilities Cytologists evaluate cellular samples for the presence of infectious processes, precancerous changes and invasive cancer. Report routine gynecologic samples and render preliminary diagnoses on potentially abnormal gynecologic samples, all non-gynecologic samples, and all fine needle aspirations. Assist with processing fine needle aspiration specimens for cytologic evaluation. Assist with teaching students, residents, and fellows rotating into the department of Cytopathology. Qualifications Education: A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, plus 12 months of training in a CAAHEP-accredited school of cytotechnology, or equivalency qualification as specified by the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA). Certification: Cytologist board certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (CT(ASCP)), or eligible. Compensation and Benefits Sign-on bonus: External candidates are eligible for a sign-on bonus between $3,000 - $5,000 depending on years of experience.
