Superior Skilled Trades is seeking experienced Structural Steel Erectors for an immediate opportunity in Bridgeport, AL!

WEEKLY PAY --- LONG TERM

PAY: $24-$32/hour (based upon experience)
HOURS: Shifts will be 8-hour workdays, 5 days per week (40+ hours/week)
SCHEDULE: Workdays will be Monday-Friday; 7:00am – 4:30pm
START DATE: ASAP
DURATION: 1 year

Job Description:

We are seeking experienced Structural Steel Erectors to join our team on a large-scale data center construction project. The ideal candidate will have experience assembling, erecting, connecting, fabricating, and welding structural steel while working safely in a fast-paced commercial construction environment. This role is responsible for building and installing structural steel systems and communicating effectively with site foremen and project leads to ensure quality workmanship and project success.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, erect, connect, and weld structural steel for commercial construction projects.
• Place, fit, install, align, bolt, weld, and secure structural iron beams, columns, girders, steel framing, and other structural components.
• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, engineering specifications, and supervisor instructions.
• Assemble hoisting equipment and rigging, including cables, pulleys, hooks, chains, and ropes, to move heavy equipment and materials.
• Fasten structural steel members to hoist cables and assist with steel erection using cranes, rigging, and hand and power tools.
• Signal crane and hoisting equipment operators to safely lift and position structural steel members.
• Pull, push, pry, and force structural steel members into proper position using turnbuckles, crowbars, jacks, drift pins, and hand tools.
• Drive drift pins through rivet holes to align structural steel members for permanent bolting, riveting, or welding.
• Unload, stage, and position prefabricated steel units for hoisting and installation.
• Verify vertical and horizontal alignment using plumb bobs, laser equipment, transits, levels, and other measuring devices.
• Cut, bend, fabricate, and weld steel frames, columns, beams, girders, and miscellaneous metal components using torches, metal shears, and welding equipment.
• Erect metal and pre-cast concrete components as required.
• Dismantle structural steel and equipment as needed.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of verifiable experience as an Ironworker/Steel Erector on commercial or industrial construction projects.
• Data center construction experience is preferred but not required.
• Metal fabrication/welding experience
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, structural plans, blueprints, and engineering specifications.
• Knowledge of structural steel erection, rigging, welding, fabrication, and fall protection requirements.
• Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification is a plus.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Ability to climb rebar walls, structural columns, tower cranes, ladders, and work at heights of 40 feet or higher.
• Ability to balance and walk across structural steel beams at significant heights.
• Ability to kneel, crawl, bend, stoop, and work in confined or awkward positions.
• Ability to work with materials overhead for extended periods and perform welding while lying on back or stomach when necessary.
• Strong grip strength for rigging, material handling, and tool operation.
• Strong verbal communication skills for jobsite signaling and coordination.
• Good vision and depth perception for material placement and alignment.
• Ability to work in environments with dust, smoke, and typical construction site conditions while wearing required PPE.

Additional Requirements:

• Must be eligible to work in the United States.
• Must be able to pass drug and background screening.
• Reliable transportation and strong attendance record.
• Use of PPE Required: Hard hat, steel-toe boots, gloves, safety glasses, and harness.
