Job Description
Seeking experienced special education professionals who are passionate about empowering high school students to reach their full potential. This rewarding contract opportunity involves working with two neighboring high schools, where you will support a caseload of approximately 25 students and collaborate with a dedicated, welcoming district team.
What we’re looking for:
- Active Michigan Teaching Certificate with SM, SE, SA, or SV endorsement
- Master’s degree and Teacher Consultant Approval, OR at least three years of successful special education teaching experience in Michigan
- Experience developing and implementing IEPs, 504 plans, conducting multidisciplinary evaluations, and utilizing MTSS strategies
- Strong knowledge of IDEA, MARSE, and all aspects of the IEP process
- Skilled in consultation—effective communicator with students, teachers, administrators, families, and related service providers
- Proficient in providing student interventions, behavior supports, and guidance for compliance with state and federal special education regulations
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of about 25 high school students across two adjacent schools
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs, METs, and 504 plans, ensuring compliance and individualized student support
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers, school administrators, families, and ancillary staff
- Deliver direct interventions, consultative guidance, and behavioral supports to promote positive student outcomes
- Support ongoing evaluations, progress monitoring, and data-driven instructional adjustments
- Serve as a resource for the school community regarding best practices in special education and current legal requirements
This full-time, W2 contract role offers a competitive hourly rate of $40-44 and access to comprehensive healthcare benefits. The collaborative culture and stability of the district make this an excellent fit for professionals who thrive on meaningful relationships and measurable student growth.
Ready to make an impact in the lives of high school students and champion their success? Submit your application today to be considered for this fulfilling opportunity!
