Full Time Assistant Store Manager (Store 0045)

Responsibilities Provide best-in-class guest service: promptly greet guests; respond to guest questions/concerns quickly, effectively, and courteously; assist guests with meeting their video gaming needs; inform guests of special promotions; recommend additional items as appropriate; apply all selling behaviors during every transaction and thank every guest for shopping at GameStop; prioritize guests over tasks and demonstrate that commitment by circulating throughout the store. Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and the guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business. Process guest purchases/return transactions using the POS system; handle transactions accurately, place merchandise in a bag, and provide a receipt while delivering top-notch guest service. Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone; escalate customer issues and complaints to the Store Manager as appropriate. Promote GameStop’s guest benefits, such as new title reservations, trade-in, and Pro Rewards programs. Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training store associates in policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines. Observe associate performance and provide timely feedback; address unsatisfactory performance as directed to align with guest service expectations. Provide recognition and feedback to store associates; document written feedback into Workday / HR service management system in partnership with the Store Manager. Ensure onboarding, job training, and compliance training are completed prior to opening or closing shifts; associates should know all job aspects, policies, inventory control, loss prevention practices, safety, financial protocol, and ethical responsibilities. Schedule store associates to follow scheduling guidelines; supervise staffing to maintain optimal guest service levels. Approve payroll, manage paid time off, and verify time worked and pay accuracy. Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising; ensure fixtures and equipment are in proper working order. Fulfill Omni-Channel orders daily. Protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention; inspect packages/belongings at closing or shift end; communicate concerns to the Store Manager. Support the store team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete required administrative duties. Conduct store inventory counts and stock merchandise to ensure representation and organization on the sales floor. Count, balance, and reconcile daily transactions in the POS system; complete closeout paperwork and bank deposits per guidelines. Verify shipments for discrepancies, conduct inventories, and report discrepancies to the Store Manager/District Manager. Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls accurately; label boxes with packing lists. Maintain safety awareness; address hazards and report injuries per company guidelines. Maintain store records/files neatly; keep manuals up to date. Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager. Adhere to GameStop policies and the Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct. Adhere to opening and closing procedures. Qualifications Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States. Must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred. At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred. At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred. Video game knowledge preferred. Key Skills and Abilities Outgoing, welcoming personality with strong people skills. Genuine and individualized assistance to every guest during every visit. Clear verbal and written communication and listening skills; English proficiency required; bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Meeting performance expectations, including attendance, safety, and respectful workplace conduct. Operate Point-of-Sale (POS) system and basic math and organizational skills. Complete required paperwork accurately and follow written, oral, or diagram-based instructions. Flexibility to work extended hours including nights, weekends, and some holidays (minimum 3 days/week). Ability to manage pressure, solve problems, and maintain guest interactions. Reliable, trustworthy, and able to work alone if needed; stand/move for up to 12 hours; lift up to 30 lbs and perform basic physical tasks. Understanding of military ranks and insignia for stores located on military bases (where applicable).
