Job Summary Provides radiology services. Responsible for operating radiological and fluoroscopic equipment. Duties and Responsibilities Philosophy Supports the facility’s ideology, mission, goals, and objectives Performs in accordance with the facility’s policies and procedures Follows the facility’s standards for ethical business conduct Conducts self in a professional manner, and as a positive role model and team member Recognizes patients’ rights and responsibilities and supports them in performance of job duties Respects patients’ right to privacy, dignity, and confidentiality Participates in facility committees, meetings, in-services, inventory and activities Maintains professional relationships with management and medical staff Communication Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers Interacts with others in a positive, respectful, and considerate manner Financial practices Uses facility resources appropriately and avoids wasteful practices Reports wasteful practices Analyzes work area and makes recommendations for potential cost-effective improvements Compliance program Contributes to the progress and development of the organization’s adopted compliance program Performs according to established compliance policies and procedures Performance-improvement program Contributes to the progress and development of the organization's adopted performance-improvement program Performs according to established performance-improvement policies and procedures Objectively evaluates suggestions, grievances, and processes to identify opportunities to improve performance and quality of care Participates in data collection activities to support the performance-improvement program Safety/risk-management program Adheres to safety policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities Reports observed or suspected safety violations, hazards, and policy/procedure noncompliance to the safety officer or other designated person Professional competence Participates in continuing education and other learning experiences Shares knowledge gained in continuing education with staff Maintains membership in relevant professional organizations Seeks new learning experiences by accepting challenging opportunities and responsibilities Welcomes suggestions and recommendations Duties Completes duties according to the requirements of each procedure requiring radiological support Assembles necessary supplies and positioning aids for scheduling procedures according to physician’s preference card Tests and monitors equipment for proper working condition Accurately comprehends and interprets verbal orders and direction Documents records and other forms, accurately adhering to approved policies/procedures Confirms that all persons in the room are appropriately shielded before activating x-ray Communicates information about the patient’s status to other persons responsible for patient care Applies the prescribed procedures to competently perform radiology technician functions Follows principles of aseptic technique in performing duties during the procedure Remains available during the procedure to provide timely responses to physician or patient needs Follows manufacturer’s specifications and OSHA guidelines when performing x‑ray procedure Performs required maintenance of instruments, supplies, and equipment by adhering to cleaning care, storage, and calibration procedures as directed Handles equipment and instruments correctly to provide appropriate availability and safety Maintains adequate supplies to provide immediate availability during the procedure Maintains a clean and organized work area Responds in a timely manner to meet the needs of the patient and the physician Qualifications Cooperative work attitude toward co‑employees, management, patients, visitors, and physicians Ability to promote favorable facility image with physicians, patients, insurance companies, and general public Ability to make decisions and solve problems Requirements Associate’s degree in Radiological Technology from an accredited Radiology Technology program Radiology technician certification in the state of Kentucky Preferred Two or more years of experience working as a radiology technician CPR / AED and First Aid certification Job Quality Requirements Accuracy Attention to detail Timeliness Organization Little supervision needed to accomplish tasks Dependability Attendance Punctuality Ability to follow instructions Ability to meet deadlines Physical and Mental Requirements Ability to sit, stand and walk Occasional kneeling, stooping, bending or reaching Ability lift 50 pounds Visual and auditory acuity #J-18808-Ljbffr
