Overview Principal Business Consultant - Commercial at Veeva Systems. The US Commercial Business Consulting team focuses on reshaping the life sciences industry to work smarter, faster, and in a more connected way by optimizing the industry operating model. Responsibilities Business Development: lead business development initiatives (e.g., opportunity identification, proposal development, client presentations) and contribute a $2-4M annual book of business, collaborating with other groups to scale and deliver one Veeva voice to the market. Project Leadership: oversee multiple project teams in the execution of consulting engagements, providing strategic oversight, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality deliverables, adherence to budget and scope, and coaching team members. Client Engagement: build and maintain strong relationships with key client stakeholders; act as account lead for designated accounts, enhance stakeholder maps, and develop strategies to deepen commercial presence. Trusted Advisor: act as a thought partner with deep understanding of the client’s business, as well as Veeva technology and data, delivering insights that inform clients’ strategic direction. Team Development: mentor and develop junior team members, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment. Offering Development: support the enhancement and socialization of standard BC offerings, relate technical product features to business impacts, and evolve offerings as the business scales. Thought Leadership: stay current on industry trends and contribute to Veeva’s knowledge base through publishing insights, whitepapers, and case studies. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required. 10+ years of management consulting experience. Background in customer engagement strategy, sales and commercial operations, omnichannel, marketing excellence, key account management, and/or medical is preferred. Strong track record of delivering client advisory engagements. Core consulting skills: workshop facilitation, client presentations, project management, and structured problem-solving approaches. Proven experience and measurable impact in business development and sales. Strong team leadership and ability to manage engagement economics. Analytical, problem-solving, and excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to travel roughly 25% (variations by engagement). Location & Travel This is a home-based, full-time permanent role with preference for candidates on the East Coast, West Coast, or other pharmaceutical markets to meet customer site requirements as needed.
