Custodian

Custodian Position

Consider joining the Pennex family as a Custodian in our Leetonia, OH facility. The Custodian maintains cleanliness and sanitation in a production environment. This role involves cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, break rooms, offices, and manufacturing floors, as well as removing waste, handling cleaning chemicals safely, and complying with facility safety and hygiene standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, understands industrial safety protocols, and is comfortable working around machinery and production equipment.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Clean restrooms including toilets, urinals, partitions, sinks, counters, mirrors, floors and walls; replenish restroom dispensers with paper products and soap and other needed items.
• Clean conference rooms and break rooms including tables, furniture, refrigerators, microwaves, walls, cabinets and windows
• Daily clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming. A powered floor scrubber will be utilized.
• Clean handrails and guardrails at least weekly.
• Strip, seal, and polish tiled areas; steam clean or shampoo carpeted areas as needed
• Gather trash from office and plant areas and dispose of items in correct facilities such as a trash compactor. Must regularly clean and sanitize trash cans and/or request new ones if damaged.
• Clean windows, glass partitions, or mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, or squeegees.
• Dust furniture, walls, machines, or equipment. Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
• Requisition supplies or equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
• Notify managers concerning the need for major building repairs and equipment failures.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• One or more years of janitorial experience is required
• One or more years of experience cleaning a manufacturing facility is required

Other Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Basic understanding of cleaning supplies and equipment
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Physical stamina to perform manual tasks and lift up to 50 lbs
• Strong attention to detail and an ability to work independently
• Excellent communication and time management skills
• Basic understanding of the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet)
• Regular attendance required
• Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen
• Must be eligible to work in the United States, visa sponsorships are not available
