Job Title: Occupational Therapist Profession: Occupational Therapy Specialty: Home Health Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum Years of Experience Required License: Licensed as an Occupational Therapist in Oregon Certifications: Valid driver's license, current certification in BLS Must-Have: Must have own car for patient care in homes Description: The Occupational Therapist is an integral member of the interdisciplinary team. They will develop, administer, and implement therapeutic services. These services are designed to help patients regain their optimal level of function. Focus areas include meaningful daily activities such as self-care, leisure, and work. The Occupational Therapist will work under the supervision of the Client Manager. Essential Job Functions include the following: Accept responsibility for evaluating patients' functional status. Interpret and implement the physician's plan of care. Complete assessments and reassessments. Make decisions based on objective tests and measurements. Communicate observations, facts, and treatment suggestions with the team. Provide education and direction to patients and coworkers as appropriate. Work independently and cooperatively. Recognize and protect patient rights. Convey empathy and compassion to those experiencing grief, pain, or trauma. Complete accurate and concise documentation of all communications. Adapt to emergency situations and be alert to changes in patients' conditions. Participate in necessary education for relevant programs. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: Required education includes graduating from an accredited occupational therapy curriculum. Candidates must be eligible for the National Registration Examination of the American Occupational Therapy Association. Continuing education relevant to skill level and practice area is desired. Candidates should have current knowledge in occupational therapy related to physical disabilities and rehabilitation. Understanding of mental health concepts, the elderly population, and home health and hospice is beneficial. Required licenses and certifications include: Licensure by the State of Oregon as an Occupational Therapist. A valid driver’s license. Current certification in BLS. Proof of auto insurance is also required. Preferred qualifications include registration with the American Occupational Therapy Association. CRASE training may be required if the travel assignment exceeds six months.
