Boiler Service Technician

Description:

Location: Remote (North Alabama & North Mississippi, West Tennessee) We are seeking a Boiler Service Technician to provide installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair services for customers throughout North Alabama, North Mississippi, and West Tennessee. We are building our team of Boiler Service Technicians to support service operations throughout Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee, with an emphasis on Gadsden, Huntsville, Decatur, Montgomery, and Mobile, Alabama; Jackson and Tupelo, Mississippi; and Jackson and Memphis, Tennessee.

The Boiler Service Technician is responsible for servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing commercial and industrial boilers, burners, and associated systems. This role demands both technical expertise and a strong commitment to safety and customer satisfaction.

Troubleshoot and service light commercial to large industrial watertube and firetube boilers.

Perform combustion setup, analysis, and adjustments on burners ranging from 0.5 to 30 million BTU/HR.

Diagnose and repair industrial burners and combustion systems.

Conduct internal and external inspections of boilers and associated control systems.

Replace and repair gaskets, valves, and various boiler components.

Evaluate steam and hydronic systems to identify issues and propose solutions.

Work with boiler support equipment including deaerators, feedwater systems, economizers, and blowdown systems.

Install, troubleshoot, and calibrate instrumentation such as thermocouples, loop controllers, transmitters, and other process controls.

Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company standards.

Maintain accurate service records and documentation.

Perform additional responsibilities as requested.

Requirements:

At least 3 years experience servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing commercial and industrial boilers, burners, and associated systems.

A valid drivers license is required with a clean record. Must be insurable with no major infractions. Job will require travel.

Must pass pre-employment background and an initial and subsequent random drug screening tests.

Self-motivated individual who works independently, as well as in a team atmosphere.

Good customer service skills are mandatory.

Present a positive professional image with customers.

Must be able to operate independently and communicate efficiently and effectively with both customers and management.

Detail-oriented in completing work orders, all required forms, summaries, and checklists.

Must have strong language skills as well as industry specific vocabulary.

Basic mathematics, algebra, and formula knowledge are required.

Strong reasoning and problem-solving skills.

Foundational Understanding:

Technician understands basic operation of steam boilers and burners (firetube and watertube types).

Technician understands key boiler safety components and their functions (low water cut-off, pressure relief, etc.).

Technician understands common types of burners and their basic parts.

Technician understands the fundamentals of combustion (fuel, air, heat, and proper ignition sequence).

Technician understands basic electrical safety and how to identify/control power sources.

Technician understands how to properly perform startup/shutdown procedures per manufacturer guidelines.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and climb frequently.

Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.

Able to push/pull heavy equipment and maneuver tubing and materials.

Ability to work in confined spaces and elevated areas.

Working with hot steam, liquids, tight spaces, and other conditions depending on customer site(s).

Must pass a physical (fit test), hearing and eye exam.

Education Requirements:

Completed High School Diploma or equivalent.

Two years of technical school, community college or trade school.

Computer knowledge a plus.
