Logistics Coordinator (Flatbed)The Logistics Coordinator (Flatbed) operates in a cradle-to-grave brokerage model, responsible for both developing customer relationships and executing freight from booking through delivery. This role focuses on flatbed and open-deck freight, requiring strong market knowledge, carrier relationships, and the ability to manage complex shipments with unique requirements.This individual will be responsible for growing and winning new business, securing capacity, negotiating rates, and ensuring seamless execution of shipments. Success in this role requires a high level of ownership, strong communication skills, and the ability to balance sales, operations, and profitability.Position Responsibilities & Accountabilities:Prospect, develop, and manage relationships with shippers requiring flatbed or specialized capacityIdentify and pursue new business opportunities to grow revenue and lane densityUnderstand customer needs, freight profiles, and service expectations to deliver tailored solutionsMaintain consistent communication and act as a trusted partner to customersSource and secure capacity for flatbed and open-deck freight through carrier outreach and relationship developmentNegotiate rates with carriers to maximize margin while ensuring service and safetyBuild and maintain a network of reliable, specialized carriers across key regions and equipment typesPrioritize repeat carrier usage to drive consistency and efficiencyManage shipments from tender through final delivery, including booking, tracking, and issue resolutionCoordinate all aspects of flatbed freight, including securement requirements, appointments, and accessorialsEnsure accurate and timely updates are communicated to both customers and carriersTake full ownership of freight in transit and resolve issues proactivelyServe as the primary point of contact for both shippers and carriers throughout the shipment lifecycleProvide proactive updates and maintain transparency around delays, issues, or changesBuild strong, long-term relationships with both customers and carrier partnersManage pricing and cost decisions to protect and grow marginBalance service expectations with profitability across all shipmentsMonitor performance trends and adjust strategy as needed to improve resultsRequired Qualifications & Competencies:2+ years of experience in freight brokerage, logistics, or transportationExperience with flatbed, open-deck, or specialized freight preferredProven ability to prospect and develop customer relationshipsStrong negotiation and communication skillsAbility to manage multiple shipments and priorities in a fast-paced environmentHigh level of ownership and accountability from booking through deliveryPreferred Competencies:Established network of flatbed carriers or shipper relationshipsStrong understanding of flatbed equipment types (step deck, RGN, conestoga, etc.)Experience working in a cradle-to-grave brokerage modelFamiliarity with TMS platforms and freight visibility toolsEntrepreneurial mindset with a focus on growth and results
