Step into a vital role supporting students as a Special Education Teacher in a contract position based near Lancaster, CA. This opportunity involves working full time with a diverse caseload. You’ll initially guide and support 1st through 5th-grade students, and there may be an extension in January to assist 6th to 8th-grade students for a maternity leave coverage. Make a meaningful difference by helping young learners succeed academically and personally throughout the school year.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid CTC certification for Mild/Moderate special education (required)
- Previous experience working with elementary and/or middle school students preferred
- Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs), instructional strategies, and classroom management
- Ability to collaborate effectively with parents, staff, and multidisciplinary teams
- Compassionate approach to meeting diverse student needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver effective instruction and interventions for students with mild to moderate disabilities within 1st to 5th-grade classrooms, with potential to shift to 6th-8th grade
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs and progress toward learning goals for each student
- Maintain organized documentation in accordance with school and state requirements
- Adapt curriculum materials and classroom activities to a range of learning abilities
- Participate in IEP meetings, staff development, and parent conferences
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment
