Job Title: RN - Pediatric CVICU Profession: RN Specialty: Pediatric CVICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Rotating Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 2 years Pediatric Cardiac ICU experience in a similar facility for acuity License: RN License Certifications: BLS, PALS, NIHSS Must-Have: Experience with fresh open heart post-op patients Transplant experience Experience with Aquadex (renal replacement therapy), Impella, ECMO EPIC experience Ability to float to PICU discussed during interview Description: The RN - Pediatric CVICU position involves working with a high-acuity patient population aged 0-18. Patients include those with congenital heart differences who require surgical intervention, medical management, and transplant care. Nurse-to-patient ratios vary based on acuity and can be 1:1 or 2:1. There are no certified nursing assistants, but one nursing assistant will support unit secretary duties each day. The unit employs centralized nursing support and has designated resource staff available. Nurses are supported by intensivists, cardiologists, and respiratory therapists available 24/7. Telemonitoring is centralized, and patients primarily maintain central lines. Floating to PICU, NICU, and General Pediatrics may be required as needed. Scheduling involves weekends and holiday shifts, with flexibility for request time off with manager approval. Teamwork, trust, and accountability are fundamental aspects of the unit culture.
