Heavy Equipment Operator

divh2Job Summary/h2pIncumbents in this position are responsible for operating heavy equipment in the installation, repair, and maintenance of the citys water and wastewater system. This position is assigned to pay grade G12./ph2Essential Job Functions/h2ulliOperates heavy equipment and transports equipment./liliMaintains and mows right of ways, outfalls, and easements, and may be required to work in tight confined areas./liliOperates heavy equipment while working from crane and logging mats./liliRepairs water leaks on large diameter pipes along with the installation of temporary bypass pumping equipment./liliAssists in the heavy construction of water and sewer point repairs./liliInspects sanitary sewer and water lines, manholes, air relief valves, pilings, etc./liliEstablishes safe work zones, including traffic control devices; flags traffic as needed./liliRepairs landscaping./liliMaintains assigned vehicles and equipment through daily routine maintenance on equipment before operation./liliCompletes daily logs, paperwork, and work orders./liliCompletes work to minimize the impact of our water and sewer on the environment and the public./liliCompletes required annual safety training requirements/liliPerforms other related job duties as assigned./lipstrongIn the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to perform alternate duties./strong/p/ulh2Education, Experience, and Other Requirements/h2ulliHigh school diploma or GED./liliSix (6) months of construction work experience including operating heavy equipment or any related work field./liliNC Grade 1 Collections preferred./liliRequires a valid State of North Carolina Class A CDL Drivers license.
