We take on complex, contested matters on behalf of real people and businesses in Montana. You will carry a demanding caseload. You will be expected to collect 1,400 billable hours annually, which means the total hours you invest in this work will be considerably higher. There will be stretches: trial prep, discovery deadlines, appellate briefing - when this job will consume your evenings, your weekends, and some portion of your peace of mind. That is the nature of advocacy and litigation. The Emotional Weight Your clients are not abstract. The people who hire us come to us at the worst moments of their professional or personal lives. The attorneys who last in litigation develop the ability to absorb a bad ruling, a difficult verdict, or a negotiation that didn’t close and to get back to work the next morning without losing their confidence or their compassion. What We Need From You Has at least 5 years of litigation experience and a Montana State Bar license Has a documented history of favorable judicial rulings and trial outcomes (wins) Brings a strong fundamental knowledge of the rules of civil procedure and the rules of evidence Demonstrates the confidence that comes from experience, preparation and command of the law and the facts Communicates clearly in writing, on their feet in court, and in difficult conversations with clients who don’t want to hear hard truths Can delegate with intention, lead client consultations with confidence, and engage productively in the kind of honest internal conflict that sharpens strategy Understands that their work affects real people and carries that responsibility seriously Why Attorneys Stay Here This is a firm where skilled people are supported, compensated well, and surrounded by colleagues who share their commitment to client centered results.
