We are looking for a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join a school-based team in Novato, California . This is an excellent opportunity to support high school students in a self-contained classroom setting and make a meaningful impact on their educational growth and success.

Position Details

• Position: Special Education Teacher

• Location: Novato, CA

• Schedule: 37.5 hours per week

• Contract Length: 9 Months

• Start Date: August 17, 2026

• Grade Level: High School

• Setting: Classroom

• Classroom Environment: Self-Contained

Position Responsibilities

• Provide specialized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)

• Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families

• Modify curriculum and instructional strategies to meet student needs

• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation

• Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions

• Foster a positive and supportive learning environment

Compensation

• Pay Rate: $45/hour

• Estimated Weekly Gross: $1,687.50

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university preferred

• Valid state teaching certificate as required by state, contract/district regulations

• Minimum of one year experience in teaching environment preferred

• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Elementary Teaching preferred

• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Secondary Teaching preferred

• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Special Teaching preferred

• Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred

• Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice

• Current CPR if applicable

• TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

• Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)

• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age
