Specialist Child Care

Job Overview Under general supervision, is responsible for performing professional-level work assisting individuals with child care needs through telephone or face-to-face interviews and counseling. Working conditions are primarily inside an office environment. Exercises no supervision. This position is funded by sales tax that has been approved by the citizens of San Antonio for a limited time period. This position, therefore, is subject to at-will employment status, and is unclassified and has no disciplinary appeal rights to the Municipal Civil Service Commission. Work Location Pre-K 4 SA North Education Center - (3635 Medical Dr, San Antonio, TX 78229) Pre-K 4 SA West Education Center - (1235 Historic, Old Hwy 90 W, San Antonio, TX 78237) Pre-K 4 SA East Education Center - (5230 Eisenhauer Rd, San Antonio, TX 78218) Pre-K 4 SA South Education Center - (3510 S WW White Rd, San Antonio, TX 78222) Work Schedule Assigned shift will vary with departmental and program needs: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.; Monday - Friday 9:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Monday - Friday Responsibilities Conducts preliminary and ongoing eligibility intakes/re-certifications for parents applying for federally funded Child Care Services Program. Performs calculations to determine parents' financial obligations for child care services. Monitors adjustments and payments. Maintains case records both electronically and hardcopy. Provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customers. Coordinates between vendor and parent to complete child care arrangements. Conducts research and justification for various accounting adjustments, to include computer entry. Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required. Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with preferred coursework in Business, Child Development, or related field. Preferred Qualifications Ability to pass a Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) background check. Bilingual in English and Spanish. Prior professional experience working in a school environment. Applicant Information Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job. One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university. Skill in utilizing personal computers and associated MS Windows-based software applications (e.g. Word, Excel) and federal/state designed programs in the completion of assignments. Ability to operate a computer keyboard and other basic office equipment. Ability to maintain and submit accurate records within the required time periods.
