Job Description

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) will be responsible for delivering comprehensive respiratory care as prescribed by physicians, focusing on emergency, neonatal, pediatric, geriatric, and critical care situations. Responsibilities include monitoring mechanical ventilation, conducting patient assessments, and administering medications while understanding the implications of hemodynamic monitoring and blood work results.

Responsibilities

• Provide competent delivery of all Respiratory Care procedures as per departmental guidelines.
• Maintain accurate documentation of respiratory care provided.
• Verify physician's orders, ensuring accurate preparation and patient information updates.
• Participate in departmental meetings, in-services, and patient care rounds.
• Conduct troubleshooting and problem resolution for respiratory care equipment.
• Perform effective airway management, including assisting with intubation and arterial blood gas draws.
• Monitor and manage ventilator patients and initiate appropriate clinical changes based on assessments.
• Contribute to the orientation and training of new staff and students in the department.

Required Experience

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with at least one year of experience in General Respiratory Care and Mechanical Ventilation.

Certifications/Licensure

• Unencumbered Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or to be obtained within 90 days of hire).
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (or to be obtained within six months of hire).
