Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Principal Manufacturing Engineer - Level 3 to join our Launch Systems Manufacturing Integration Team in Chandler, AZ. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.

Your Role and Impact:

• Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling.
• Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.
• Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
• Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
• May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plans.
• Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, investigate and initiate corrective actions for problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.
• Develop manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control and may develop those techniques.
• Provide guidance to engineering regarding Design For Manufacturing (DFM) concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
• Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.

Your Expertise - Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree with 5 years of professional experience – OR – Master's degree with 3 years of professional experience
• Must have an active US Government Secret (or above) security clearance at time of application, current and within scope
• Experienced in creating, supporting & sustaining the use of Manufacturing Engineering System (MES) work instructions
• Proficient in DFM
• Experience with manufacturing processes, procedures work cell layout, production build sequence, tooling design, troubleshooting/corrective action, and quality assurance.
• Experience adapting machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions
• Familiarity working with CAD, NX, Costpoint and Teamcenter

Preferred Qualifications:

• A Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering
• Familiarity with Northrop Grumman processes

We work a 9/80 schedule (9 hours per day Mon-Thurs, 8 hours every other Friday with the alternate Friday off)
