Histology Technician Extra on Call

Employment Type: Part time Summary This position is responsible for performing technical duties in the preparation of surgical, autopsy, and cytology specimens for microscopic examination. It may also involve technical instruction of students in an ASCP-approved Histologic Technique program. The incumbent should be preparing to successfully pass the ASCP-HT examination, which requires a minimum of an Associate Degree. Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Associate's Degree is preferred. Completion of one college biology class and/or one college chemistry class is required. One (1) year of experience as a Histotechnology Trainee or Histology Technologist. Patience, mechanical ability, functional knowledge of anatomy, chemistry, and physiology is required. Experience in enzyme histochemistry and immunoperoxidase stains is required. Accuracy, reliability, working well under pressure, ability to finish a task once started, communication skills both oral and written are required.
