Job Description The Buyer supports day-to-day procurement operations with a strong focus on managing tail spend, identifying and enabling suppliers, and expanding catalog content within SAP Ariba. This role helps reduce manual purchasing activities, improve spend visibility, and increase use of preferred purchasing channels by effectively leveraging contracts, suppliers, and digital buying tools. Responsibilities Execute tail spend sourcing activities, including rate card maintenance, supplier identification, and catalog enablement, while leaving strategic sourcing events, complex negotiations, and contract drafting to other teams. Actively manage and reduce tail spend across assigned categories by identifying opportunities to consolidate suppliers and shift spend to preferred vendors. Perform spot buys in alignment with procurement policies and pricing benchmarks, ensuring compliance and cost-effectiveness. Monitor purchasing trends and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and optimize spend. Research and identify qualified suppliers for materials and low‑complexity service needs based on quality, capability, and pricing. Support supplier onboarding processes in alignment with organizational requirements, ensuring accurate and complete supplier information. Validate supplier capabilities and pricing to ensure they meet business needs and align with expectations. Maintain and update supplier rate cards in coordination with category managers, ensuring pricing accuracy and alignment with negotiated terms. Identify and recommend opportunities for pricing standardization across suppliers and categories. Ensure purchase requests leverage existing contracts and preferred suppliers wherever possible to maximize contract utilization. Redirect spend from non‑contracted suppliers to contracted or preferred suppliers when appropriate. Partner with category managers to identify and communicate contract gaps that affect purchasing activities. Manage contracts and pricing information in SAP and related systems to support accurate purchasing and reporting. Enhance SAP Ariba Guided Buying by expanding punchout and hosted catalogs, improving item descriptions, and increasing overall usability. Collaborate with suppliers to enable and optimize punchout catalog capabilities within SAP Ariba. Execute spot buying in SAP ECC while ensuring catalog content is maintained and updated in SAP Ariba. Identify opportunities to shift manual buying processes to catalog‑based, portal‑based, and automated channels. Support the setup and use of supplier portals to streamline procurement transactions and communication. Recommend digital procurement and automation improvements to reduce cycle times and improve the buyer experience. Essential Skills 2-5 years of experience in procurement or supply chain roles. Hands‑on experience managing tail spend and executing spot buys. Experience with supplier identification, onboarding, and pricing management. Proficiency in rate card and pricing maintenance, including coordination with category managers. Knowledge of contract management principles and contract utilization in purchasing activities. Experience with catalog enablement and optimization in digital procurement tools. Strong multitasking skills with the ability to manage multiple purchasing requests and priorities simultaneously. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret spend data and identify improvement opportunities. Experience working with SAP and SAP Ariba or similar procurement systems. Ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders and suppliers to achieve procurement goals. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with SAP Ariba Guided Buying, including punchout and hosted catalog management, is preferred. Familiarity with SAP ECC for spot buying activities. Experience supporting supplier portal setup and use in a digital procurement environment. Demonstrated ability to recommend process and automation improvements in procurement operations. Strong communication and collaboration skills to partner with category managers and suppliers. Detail‑oriented approach to maintaining accurate pricing, rate cards, and catalog content. Work Environment This role operates in a hybrid work environment based out of the Bothell, WA site. The position combines on‑site work with remote flexibility, supporting collaboration with procurement teams and stakeholders while leveraging digital tools such as SAP, SAP Ariba, and supplier portals. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Bothell, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $38.00/hr.
